It looks like Salman Khan’s Sultan has failed to impress the Chinese audience at the box office. After having a low Friday, the sports drama witnessed minimal growth, which is not sufficient. The film now stands with the grand total of Rs 14.38 crore. Sunday is extremely crucial for the film, as it will decide, whether it can retain screens in its second weekend or will just be a one week affair.
#Sultan continues to struggle… Witnesses limited growth on Day 2 in China, but with a low starting point, the growth should’ve been threefold or thereabouts… Let’s see what Day 3 [Sun] has in store…
Fri $ 940,000
Sat $ 1.09 mn
Total: $ 2.03 mn [₹ 14.38 cr]

With 4000 screens, the movie buffs were expecting Sultan to repeat it box office success in China but it seems the content of the film failed to strike with the audience. Interesting Salman’s last venture Bajrangi Bhaijaan in China had collected over Rs 290 crore at the box office. Though with the help of Chinese collections, Sultan has crossed the benchmark of Rs 600 crore at the global box office. Talking about Sultan, the film narrates the story of an Olympic gold medalist wrestler who retires from the sport after a personal tragedy. He gets another chance to make his dream come true and win the love of his life back, when he is invited to be a part of MMA league. He goes on to become a popular name across the world once again, with his winning streak in the MMA matches, and sets up a blood bank in his village, and eventually reunites with his estranged wife.
