South releases this week: C/O Kancharapalem, Manu and Silly Fellows will lock horns at box office

This week will not witness any big budget films being released but quite a few small budget films will lock horns. From the most acclaimed films C/O Kancharapalem and Manu in Telugu to Thodara in Tamil, a slew of small films will hit the screens this week giving audience multiple option for the weekend entertainment. To talk about their box office potential at this juncture may be too early, we take a look at the films that are lined up this week-

C/O Kancharapalem:

This critically acclaimed film has been drawing a lot of attention from all around for its subtle and raw story. Directed by debutante Venkatesh Maha, C/O Kancharapalem is set in the coastal city of Vizag and has all newcomers in the cast who haven’t been associated with films ever. Top star Rana Daggubati has taken up the ownership of the film and has been promoting it for a long time now. C/O Kancharapalem will hit the screens on September 7th, 2018 worldwide.

Another small budget film, Manu is a thriller which is, surprisingly, funded by the crowd and few movie buffs. Manu is directed by Phanindra Narsetti who is a popular name in short film circles in Telugu. The film stars Raja Goutham and Chandini Chowdary in the lead roles and is said to be a thriller. The specialty of Manu is said to be graphics which were pulled off in a limited budget the makers had at their disposal.

Vanjagar Ulagam:

This Tamil film is another small-scale film and is directed by Manoj Beedha. Starring Anisha Ambrose, Cibi Bhuvana Chandran and Hareesh Peradi, this thriller is the most talked about in Tamil film circles. The music of Vanjagar Ulagam is composed by Sam CS who shot to fame with Vikram Vedha.

Actress Sadha is making a comeback in films with this drama and will be seen playing a rural girl in the film. Going by the trailer, Torchlight seems to be revolving around women’s lives in rural areas and the trauma they face in their daily lives. Torchlight is one of the most anticipated for films in Tamil this season and will release on September 7th.

Silly Fellows:

Tollywood actors Allari Naresh and Sunil will be seen playing lead roles in this comic-drama and much has been spoken about this film. This comedy drama is directed Bhimineni Srinivasa Rao and stars Bigg Boss Telugu contestant Nandini Rai, Poorna and Chitra Shukla. The teaser of Silly Fellows looked promising but with both the stars’ latest run looking dull, trade experts opine that the film may not survive long.
