The love for Punjabi music seems inexhaustible amongst Bollywood buffs. This explains the mandatory Punjabi song in every film. Since Manmarziyaan is set in Punjabi, it is obvious that the use of Punjabi lyrics is far more than what’s common. Dhayaan Chand is a song featuring Vicky Kaushal and Taapsee Pannu. It has been sung by Vijay Yamla, Nikhita Gandhi, Amit Trivedi and Suhas Sawant. The lyrics are by Shellee and music is composed by Amit Trivedi. The song starts off with a furious Taapsee telling Vicky that he has all the guts to romance but none to come home and talk to her parents. We see her as a hockey player, so there is the Soorma hangover. It is the typical Bollywood song where he see a hero wooing back an upset heroine. Vicky with his dyed hair and side streaks shows off his dance moves and we must say he is quite good. He does impress but the song itself with its peppy beats and a bit of Bhangra/folksy notes does not create any impact. At least, it did not make us groove on the first hearing! Amit Trivedi’s songs are ones that slowly grow on you but unlike Chonch Laadiyaan from the same film, we wonder if reactions to this will change even after repeated hearing. Taapsee repeats her angry girl avatar and we feel that sense of deja vu. The role is a fresh one for Vicky and it is obvious that he is enjoying himself. Stay tuned to BL for more scoops and updates!
