Gold is Akshay Kumar’s ninth Rs 100 crore film after Housefull 2, Housefull 3, Airlift, Rustom, Jolly LLB 2, Holiday, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Rowdy Rathore. The film has already crossed the Rs 150 crore mark at the worldwide box office, making it one of highest Bollywood grossers of the year. Gold is directed by Talaash and Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd helmer Reema Kagti. It is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under the banner of Excel Entertainment and also stars Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor, Vineet Kumar Singh, Amit Sadh and Sunny Kaushal in pivotal roles. Apparently, Gold has faced a stiff competition from John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate, which dominated the Akshay Kumar starrer in the single screens and mass centres.
